Picked up the passport today and I gotta say.. disappointed with the hardware... when I press down the slightest bit on the bar below the keypad, primarily under the letter c, you hear a creaking noise as if the plastic is bending or there's empty space underneath. Besides that, my 'g' and 'h' button make a weird noise when being pressed, and the keyboard plastic on a lot of the letters feels cheap.. the keyboard typing experience is great and so is the screen, I just wish it didn't feel like cheap plastic and make so much noise when the slightest pressure is applied to the material.

It's never wise to rush out and buy any device that have been just push out, most of those few device will be beta tester products.

No creaking here, no matter how hard I press. You must have a defective one, exchange it for another one. Compare to all other manufacturers, the plastic seems very high quality to me.

Think the OP needs to retitle the thread Disappointed with 'my" Passport... as others are reporting.. they are not having your issues..... amazing how when one person has an issue... they make a blanket statement about all devices....

BlackBerry has suspect IC processes particularly it seems with the keyboards. Just return it as hopefully it was just an outlier and nothing systemic with the build quality. BTW where are these manufacturered? I don't think it is Foxconn yet.

The high end devices stayed being manufactured by BlackBerry themselves, not Foxconn, they outsourced the mid-tier phones for higher profit margin

    Hopefully it's only your device.

I was wondering the other day, the keyboard being touch enable, could it be damaged with all the swapping. I'm talking long term here. We can only speculate here I guess.

No issues here to report, very much love the keyboard, space bare could be larger and it would have been nice to have had an illuminated underscore on it though

Passport, it's the optimal viewing experience.

I've used the passport in beta for several months now and I'm substantially harder on phones than the average user. The keyboard has held up very well for me.

If you have a defective product, go and get it replaced or ask for a refund. Your title is very misleading.

My build quality was great. A couple short comings aside, the passport would have been my new DD.
