    Default Desktop Update?

Just thinking - wont there be a Link update just before the Passport is released?
A tell tale sign so to speak?

Latest is that Blends not a replacement for Link and the two will continue to coexist...

That is what I have been telling people. Blend and Link are two different things. They may be similar but they are different

In the 1052 update, they have changed the "BlackBerry Link" in settings to "Device Connections" and the text says "You can use BlackBerry Link "OR" BlackBerry Blend to allow connections between your device and other devices associated with your BlackBerry ID..."

That is why it is changed to Device Connections. To accomodate the two options.

But as far as I can tell Link will still be needed for backups and restores so it probably isn't going anywhere.

It seems the media transfer part of Link will move over to Blend.

I would like to see BlackBerry combine the Link and Blend software and put it all under one roof. It should be called BlackBerry Link as it's the better fitting name.

If we need Link to run Blend then I am in big trouble as my link only works 5% of the time. Fine for backups and sync via USB but wireless almost never works

BlackBerry Link is in desperate need of a major overhaul. It's been problematic from day one and progress has been slow. I for one would welcome an update, or dare I hope, a replacement? But I'm not holding my breath.

I got an update on Link yesterday. Not sure how long it was there for... less than a week.

Anyway, I actually think it's working better now. Let's say it went from a 2 to a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. 50% improvement, not bad!

"Tasks that you might have previously completed using BlackBerry Desktop Software or BlackBerry Link can now be completed using BlackBerry Blend, including: Backing up and restoring device data, Switching to another device, Copying pictures, videos, and music between a computer or tablet and your BlackBerry 10 device."
    CrackBerry front page.

I'm wondering if the ultimate goal will be a complete migration to Blend, and an eventual retiring of Link.

    We can only hope...

It also hope that blend will not carry over the buggy nature of Link.
