I just tried a check deposit and it worked just fine. With so many complaints about this as a missing feature of bb10, I decided to try it.

Key. I downloaded the app from the Play Store. It worked as well as a native app.

That's cool for customers of KeyBank. To answer your question "why the complaints", it's probably because there are a hundred other banks out there. Now BB10 users who have accounts at Key will know they can make deposits.

Maybe this thread could be the place to collect which banks have working remote deposit capture on BB10 (and that have actually been tested with real checks). I would suggest including the version number that was tested as well, so people know which one to go get.

The RBC Android app needs to be patched and have Cobalt's Google Play Services up and running. After all that, it works fine.

Even for mobile payments regardless of carrier? That was their newest advertised feature for android app

Their disclaimer says it won't work on rooted devices and BlackBerry 10 shows as rooted

Not for mobile payments, but for mobile cheque deposits. I think that's what OP was talking about.

Damn. Yeah I was just wondering if that worked after patching

Beyond that, you need KitKat (Android 4.4) or above to have RBC Wallet. So it's a no-go anyway.

Key charges 50 cents for a deposit. I will still be going to the atm. But, it is good to hear some are working.

Huh, I didn't think Citi's check deposit worked. Did you have to install Google play services for the check to be accepted?

Bank of America works. Looks odd in the framing but it auto-detects the check so you don't have to hit the shutter when you hold it right, it takes the pic.
