Well, at least for me, my passport. Frustrated of worsening double typing on my passport, I did my own diagnosis on the keypad, if it is a hardware problem as suggested by few friends. I divided keypad area into 3, top from q-p, left consist of asdzxc and right, jklbnm...and start my diognosis, by typing those leters to identify the problem area or letters . And, as shown in the picture, the right hand side, letters 'jklbnm' is the real culprit. So now, I it is confirmed a hardware problem, and I would send it to my authorised agent to get it fixed.....

This does not tell anyone in the slightest what exactly is causing the issue.

surely, not the solution for everyone. one thing for sure (for my passport) it's not a software problem..... and it happens on all apps, bbm, doc to go....as a matter of fact, typing/input on all apps.
those facing the same issue, may try this if it is the hardware problem.
the affected area of my passport Is bottom right, letter j-k-l-b-n-m..... other area or letters seems ok....

Not entirely correct as my double entry errors affect the top most letters only.

I think it's all over the place.

On my passport it was b and m at first, progressing to a and w..... I'm on my Z30 for awhile to see if giving my passport a rest will help or we get an update or something.

Well, I think BlackBerry should take accountability for all the defective keyboards, and replace them free of all charges. It is one thing to say that you have the best keyboard, but it looks bad when they start screwing up on your flagship devices.

Very sad they're not addressing the issue.

Since Passport keyboard is physical, it can inherit mechanical failure such as worn out of 'spring' like pad (beneath each key) that act like the real keyboard we are using in conventional desktop computer. The other possible cause of double letter issue is the sensitivity of OS running the system. It maybe that the previous OS is less sensitive than the latest OS.

The only way to find out if it is OS related issue is to install other version of OS and see the result. If after trying other versions of OS and the issue is still there, chances are, it is a hardware related issue and only going to the BlackBerry authorised service centre can solve the issue or replacement of new unit.

I tried downgrading to 10.3.0. The problem reappeared within hours of starting to use the OS. Anecdotally it seemed less severe than PassportSQW100-1/10.3.1.2576, but I only tried it for a bit before wanting to go back to my setup.

In the process I reloaded 10.3.1 from scratch then restored my backup. Now Android Player keeps asking for permissions every so often. It's a pain, but a complete rebuild seems like it would be worse.

Blackberry won't acknowledge the double typing on the passport, same as with the Q10.

Sad really, here we are avid blackberry fans, buying blackberrys bread and butter PKB phones, and they can't admit they made a mistake.
