what does everyone like to use for their camera?

1:1
4:3
16:9?

I tend to take most pics in 1:1. That seems to get me the biggest, brightest, and best photo and they really fill the screen nicely. The ironic part is that this is the dimension used by Instagram, so the picture upload perfectly.

1:1 is just a crop from 4:3 which is the professional standard. In doing so you loose pixels. You can always go back and crop 1:1 later. I think this was recently discussed on here.

It's a more pleasing aspect ratio. It also utilizes more of the sensor.

I use the ratio that has the most pixels to exploit my camera's capabilities best. All other ratios come into being just by cropping this native ratio. Many people don't know that and use also zooming, which is also nothing else than cropping a bigger picture - your camera can provide a picture of 8 Mpx but you use only 5 or even 3 Mpx. Cropping is something I can do at any time later.

My Z30 reaches it's full camera capabilities with a picture of 3264 x 2448 pixels (7.99 Mpx) in a ratio of 4:3. All other ratios have less pixels.
