    While using my brand new Silver Edition that I just got on Saturday I ran into this problem on Monday Night (yesterday) 8/10/15

    Sure a quick restart fixed it but I don't think that crap should happen to a brand new blackberry.
    Never has happened with my Classic that I've had for 8 months.

    I remember this has happened to my BB Passport.
    So what I do is press the power button the turn off the screen then slid up to wake and then unlock to fix it.

    Send it back! I've used the original Passport, AT&T version and several Z30's and Z10's and haven't had that problem. Could be hardware related, which could mean more touchscreen issues down the road.

    If it keeps happening, it is a hardware problem. As what other has said, just return it and ask for replacement...

    This has been happening to me too. Doesn't seem like a hardware issue to me. More like bugged apps. Reddit In Motion, browser. Restarting the apps seems to fix it. Keyboard scrolling works though. Can't remember if I've had to do a hard reset.

    I suspect that in the two days after installing apps, accounts and user data, it was really itching for a reboot. Hopefully it won't repeat.

    Does turning off the screen and turning back on fix the issue?

    I tried turning off the screen and going back to the home screen and it didn't work. I had to restart the phone. If this is a known issue I wont be keeping this phone. In fact, I just put a refund on Amazon. It sucks because I was really digging the phone. I'll just stick to my Classic. It's perfect.
