    Hey Passport Users,
i used the Apple EarPods with my Z10, they worked really good. Since i upgraded to a Passport, i can hear my music, but if i want to make a call they just don't work. I'm able to hear the other Person but there's a frequent beeping and the other person on the line can't hear me. My BlackBerry Headset works so far.
Has someone experienced the same Problem with the Apple Headset?

    Thanks in advance.

No but why exactly would you use Apple Ear Pods with your BlackBerry? Carrying two devices?

In my opinion they have just better sound for listening to music. Otherwise i have to return my Passport. Maybe it's defective.

I'd try at least another set of earbuds before assuming the phone is defective...maybe it is but I'd still recommend troubleshooting.

On top of that if you try some other brand as well as the BB supplied ones and it fails then i would assume it defective. If you tried the BB supplied ones and it works and a Samsung one for example and it works. then it is not a HW issue.

Thanks for the answers and Tips. Later at home i'll try a second pair of Ear Pods and some other Headset. So i had to borrow them. My thought was thats just an incompatibilty between the EarPods and my Passport.

Had the same issue with my wife's old earpods (apple) every other headphone worked fine. Chances are it's the earpods. Now I have a pair of bose in ears and couldnt be happier.

It's definitely the earpods it's a compatibility issue I think if you try android compatible ones you would be better off or if you wanna hear what your listening to get some premium headphones

I have checked various headsets. Everyone of them works so far. It seems, that just the EarPods and my Passport don't like eachother. Next step is testing another pair of EarPods.

Make sure you are testing mic3 headsets. Support for mic3 is hardware dependent, it is not only a software feature. I believe that the apple earpods are mic3 and I think I read somewhat that blackberry chose not to use hardware that supported mic3 to the passport to save money as they felt it was a more consumer oriented feature.

I'm pretty sure it's a compatibility issue as already stated. My Apple earbuds don't work on my Pre2 (I hear fine, but the other end just hears noise), but the Blackberry headphones that came with my Z10 do.

Typically, if your BlackBerry comes into physical contact with an Apple product, the Apple product will spontaneously disintegrate, especially if that Apple product (like the ear buds) penetrates the BlackBerry in any way. So my suggestion is to always use the BlackBerry ear buds included with your BlackBerry smartphone.
