    I was wondering if email sent to a BlackBerry device (the Passport is my prime choice, if I were to switch from Windows, that's why it's here) is sent through BlackBerry servers (if existent).

    I believe you are referring to BIS (BBOS) . That was phased out for BB10 devices.

    No. AFAIK, only BBM messages go through BlackBerry servers.
