I have a BlackBerry Classic and replaced it with a BlackBerry SE which is a fantastic phone.

I installed Cobalt's Google Play on the SE just like I did on the Classic.

However on the SE some of the Android Apps just run dog slow. An example is Amazon Music which is almost unusable as it loads and then takes an age to load Prime Music or purchased cloud music. On the Classic it is fairly nippy.

The Passport SE has a bitter chipset an is better device so I don't get it.

    Any ideas ?

I came from a Q10 to a PassPort. Night and Day for me. I would be curious to know if you patched the Android Runtime on your Passport?

    Your holding it wrong?

No that doesn't sound right... are both using the same version of BB10?

You might try doing a clean install of the OS and not restoring any data, and testing it to see how it performs.

yeah, it sounds as though something is wrong with your software.

the classic simply can't run a lot of the android apps i throw at it, whereas the passport runs them so well that it feels near-native at times

I agree with the commenters above. There's no way Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 should be running slower than the ancient Snapdragon S4 Plus found in the phones like the Q10 and Classic.

that's simply not a determining factor in this case, as the Passport is faster and smoother than the q10 and classic in every way.

I did the same, and it seems like the SE is way faster. And the classic is basically the Q10 with bottoms isn't it?

It's a night and day difference between my passport and classic w.r.t processing android applications! The android apps in my passport gives me a near native experience.

No way, passport is the fastest bb10, if anything my classic felt slower than my q10 (different os at classic launch maybe) . Z30 beat them both and passport is next level

Check the power settings. In power save mode you can set the processor to slow down. Turn that off.

I'll agree on just about every report except:
When it comes to ported android apps many are NOT designed to run on the Passport's resolution which is square. Pixel doubling or whatever technique is being done does affect the cpu and ram as BOTH are used to draw the UI on the screen.

Transit Now Toronto is one such app I see NO performance gain from loading to switching through saved bus routes or searching for new ones on BOTH the Classic vs Passport OG over the last 4 days. Currently since Friday I'm on the classic. Will be switching back tonight for half a day.

I had a similar problem but in my case, my Z10 was faster than my Z30. No one could give me a good answer to why that might happen, but it did

There a number of Android apps that I can run on both the Passport and the Classic, but one thing's for sure: Passport runs the majority of them a lot faster. Loading times on the Passport is a lot faster as well.

    Hi guys:

My PP phone module failed to the service gave me a BlackBerry Classic to use while it got fixed(they are are just replacing replacing unit). In so doing I got a chance to compare the two. In short, while the classic is physically smaller and slicker, it's very SLOW as compared to the passport, and I do mean slow. You can tell it has only 2 cores, it was painful to use.

    Cheers,
    John
