Is anyone able to touch type on their PP yet? And I don't mean standing still and only looking at your screen touch typing, but crossing Lex ave looking up to make sure you don't get hit by a cab and typing a message at the same time touch typing.

Definitely possible to type without looking at the keyboard. I just touch typed this and only had one error.

Here is another string without any corrections.

I found that I was typing pretty much as fast as I used to type on my Bold within a week. It really didn't take long to adjust to the spacing and layout.

Not me. I must just be terrible. Having said that, last week is the first time I've decided to truly only use just this device. Surely my typing can only get better, right?

It's a great device. It need some practice but after a few weeks I type like on my old 9900

Okay entering Numbers was faster but beside that, it's great.

I can type without looking. The double type I'm now getting however makes some of what I type look like I stutter!

Other than for punctuation, I typed this whole message without looking and I think I was able to do so fairly quickly

Oh and I've been using the passport for about 4 months nowas a daily driver. Before that I was on the Q10

To the people saying that you can touch type, does this include punctuation and numbers?

I can't imagine ever being able to do pure touch typing on the PP.

If you double space you get a period. Otherwise in messaging commas, question marks and exclamation points really are extra. Emailing is a different story though.

I guess you could use word substitution for touch typing punctuation on the PP. I already use space "v" to substitute for "? " when typing one handed. So I could so use "space b" = "! ", "space n" = ","

Took me a long time to get to that point, it was much easier to do on my Q10. Like, I could literally participate in a conversation with someone, looking in their eyes and nodding, while typing on the Q10 without error. The Passport, on the other hand, has only one thing lacking and that's the 4th row of the keyboard. So while you could type words just fine, you'd still have to look at the virtual extension to put down the symbol you need. Sometimes autocorrect gets it for you, but if you wanna be really accurate, you're gonna have to look down

You can once you memorize the physical keys that map to the symbols you most frequently use. Then all you have to do is swipe down on the keyboard and press that key, and the punctuation/symbol shows up.

It's actually easier than having to press a little alt key and then hitting the physical key that maps to the symbol, because you can swipe anywhere on the keyboard to invoke the 'alt' keyboard.

I've never been able to fully type without looking. For me, the extra effort in trying to do this is not worth it.

I am able to type words at a time without looking, but I cant do more than a couple of words without re-aligning.

My WPM is around 42 (without prediction or auto-correct), so that's plenty good enough for me.
