Do you use Q10? It is the common issue on this model.

I'm using the Passport. The recent leaks and soon to be release .2558 have this bug too.

I haven't see this at all.

    Maybe a hardware issue?

My u key has started. I'll wait a bit longer until it becomes unbearable before getting it repaired.

I went through a bunch of keyboards on my Q10 so I wonder if it's my style of typing. BlackBerry took care of me then, so I would expect them to take care of it again this time.

There's nothing wrong with my keyboard. It seems to be a software bug. Example is when I type one 't' it pops up 'tt'. You would have to type long sentences or paragraph to notice the double letters.

It happened immediately after I updated to .2480.

I think you need to return your device. I'm in a group of 30. 17 have passports and none of these issues you speak of. We all loaded 2558. Yes the differences aren't really noticeable but we all agree that it's a solid OS and the best build yet. And most of us use autoloaders to load the OS and rarely restore.

I don't understand these odd things. The flickering and double letters... I've never had either and have been using the same releases mentioned above. It makes me think that they are hardware issues or maybe conflicts between apps; something odd.

I don't doubt the comments above at all. Just seems like it can't solely be an OS issue or everyone would have, it.

Blackberry could easily eliminate double typing on the software side, specially on the passport with capacitive keyboard... I don't get it...

It's definitely not a software issue. It's a hardware issue that's common with physical keyboard devices don't mess about get it replaced. If it was a software issue it would be more common like the flickering

There is a 1000+ post thread about double typing on the Q10. It was a hardware problem that could have had an easy software fix if BlackBerry had bothered to do it. But they never fixed it with 10.2.1. Perhaps 10.3.1 has the fix - my husband has my old Q10, and he has never mentioned double typing.

I'm just starting to get very occasional double typing on my Passport, only since the OS update. Not nearly bad enough to replace the phone, so I'll see if it gets worse. I suspect an OS update with minor bug fixes is coming very soon, so I'll just wait.

It's not hardware. This bug is documented in early February. If it's hardware related wouldn't we be complaining about it since September when the Passport was first launch. For me it happened ever since I updated to 10.3.1.

Seriously this 10.3.1 wasn't ready for prime time. I wish I could go back to 10.3.0 when my phone was already flawless. I was curious with the hype and had to update my Passport. Now I have quite a list of growing problems.

This is what happens when there is a simple bug in the Q10 and BlackBerry didn't care to fix it. Now it has spread on to the Passport. Sigh.

Thhis is what I hate the most. When a problem is not so wide spread. I hope this double type issue is more wide spread that BlackBerry would look into this. Coz I agree it's annoying. Passport is supposed to be The fastest typing bla bla bla in the market, now I have to backspace more often than my android.

No, it is hardware. A wear and tear issue with the keyboard. The time it has taken for the keyboard to start acting up happened to coincide with an OS update.

This was discussed at length in the Q10 double typing thread. A software fix would extend the time interval for a key press to be considered single. That's all that is needed. All physical keyboards will eventually double type as the rubber lining under the keys wears out.

Another solution is to train yourself to type with harder key presses.
