Turn off face detection, it should be a lot better. I don't think the face detection algorithm is implemented well.

That would be great. I have the same issue but the BB Service Center is refusing to take my device since it was bought outside of India. This, despite me willing to pay for the fix. Nonetheless, if you post it up, it would be great since I desperately need a fix.

    Thanks,

My almost brand new Passport SE got this same stupid camera problem also, now it is impossible to take a clear picture or record a video without that annoying constant static noise. This phone was imported from US and I'm using it in Thailand. So far my attempts of getting Blackberry to fix the phone seems to be impossible task.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers!

Have you guys tried Camera++ from BlackBerry World?

I have heard most of the issues with the Camera on BlackBerry devices is software related and this app has great reviews.

I would think it's worth $3.99 to try.

    T-Mobile  вιaсĸвεггч Passport Autoloaded 10.3.1.2582 Sachesi to 10.3.1.2744 to 10.3.2.680 to 798 to 2204 to 2339 to 2639 to 2789

I am using Camera++ instead of the stock app. Camera++ allows a lot of settings and that means you can end up with very bad photos if not configured well. So take some time to understand the settings and the app will serve you well.

    FWIW

Most likely a hardware issue. Just claim for warranty. Camera++ apps have manual fokus but doubt that will help.

Try this application: "Camera++" from "BlackBerry world".
That should fix ur issue if it was a software problem.

I downloaded camera++ a couple weeks ago. nothing changed.

on tuesday I accidentally dropped my phone from about 1.5 meters, focus started working. I hope it's back to stay.

This link has helped a lot of people in the recent past treating the slow focus of the Passport Camera. Perhaps it helps here as well!?

The focus mechanism, whatever it is, was stuck, if you search the forum you might find one or two others had the same issue!

    Glad it's working.

with the auto zoom on default app, add even camera++ but less often with the ++ app. I found moving the focus box around screen seems to help.

It doesn't like to focus on things if it is really up close on the center. You can move the focus box around to find a sweet spot where everything comes into focus

I've noticed this happening on my Passport a few times, although rare. I give the camera lens a tap with my finger, & that seems to sort it.

My experience is that passport isn't really capable of taking macro shots, which needs at least 2-3 inches away from the object. The key is to hold the shutter till you see the green rectangular icon appear.
