Hello to all PD owners. Now, I am currently using BlackBerry passport (OG)and Q10 as my main phone while priv for specific apps. Recently, I have been thinking either to get another classic or even P9983. I am wondering if it's well worth the investment for P9983 now (late 2016). Any input is appreciated. As friends around me saying that I am being sick for investing so much on a dead brand, but I think BlackBerry provides the best security and messaging in class. Any input is appreciated.

If you want it and the money means nothing... go for it.

I assume you know where BB10 is and how it's dying... so you are informed on the positives and the negatives. You decide.

I think as long as you get a BB10 phone you should be OK for the next few years. The software should still work, and the phone will connect to and work on most cell providers. You just won't have full Android support, plus beyond security updates BlackBerry has ceased development of BB10, and next to no 3rd party developers are doing to much with apps anymore. BUT the OS should work and it should work on your carrier's network without issue. It may eventually be like using an old iPhone with software that can't be updated. It still works fine, makes calls, does anything that any of the system apps can do, you just can't get apps for the store anymore. BUT we ain't quite there yet!

Sure, go and buy it, you are not alone. I'm planning to get p9983 next week. I picked up samsung s7 edge, now I understand it is not for me.
Android is a different story, especially for business .

Thx to all with their valuable opinions. Yeah, I am currently trying to find a dark color version of P9983 which I think it looks rather better than the silver version. In the mean time, I am still rocking with Q10, OG passport and priv.

I really wanted to get the P9983 Graphite, but the price drop on Passport/Priv got me to buy the Passport SE now, rather than wait a few months if not more until I would have saved enough $$ to buy the P9983.

It is all about the money. If money means anything to you than stay away. If you just want an expensive piece of Tech Jewelry and the money to blow, than go for it... It is a beautiful phone
