I recently upgraded from the Q10 to the P'9981. The P'9981 arrived last week, shipped directly from Porche Design of Canada, and I went to a local AT&T store today to pickup a compatible sim card to activate my P'9981. So, how do I transfer ALL of my data (contacts, phone call records, text message history, ringtones, bookmarks, settings, pics, et cetera) over from the Q10 to the P'9981? I've tried using BlackBerry Link and the software says that I must use an OS10 compatible device (meaning that it won't recognize the P'9981 as the target device to transfer data to). I try using BlackBerry Desktop Software it says 'Could not connect to the selected device', meaning that it won't recognize the Q10 as a the device I'm currently using (the device I want to transfer data from). Is there a solution to this conundrum or do I need to manually type my hundreds (thousands?) of contacts into the P'9981 and lose all of my docs/notes(remember)/call/text/email history in the process? Surely Blackberry didn't assume that no one would ever want to migrate from their buttonless Z10 or crippled Q10 to one of their business/professional models so that we could return to a state of productivity.

To explain my situation, here's my review of the Q10.

There's another thread like this on these forums today, but no one has addressed his problem yet. If there are two posting about this today, it's safe to assume that there are many more in the world facing the exact same problem. Please help us!

I wouldn't call that an upgrade. Hope there is a solution for you.

Read my review of the Q10. The 9900/9981 is a colossal upgrade in regards to productivity. I've scoured the net for a solution and so far, I'm not finding one. Hoping some of the members here are knowledgeable in this area.

I spoke to Blackberry technical support on the phone and they said that there is no way to transfer text message history from the Q10 to any other phone other than another Q10 or a Z10. However, we could transfer contacts from an OS10 to OS7 device via bluetooth through a tedious one-at-a-time process. Forget that I said. Thankfully, I hadn't wiped and sold my 9900 yet, so I've decided to transfer my older data from my 9900 to my 9981 and live without the new data accrued over the past 5.5 weeks while using the Q10. I'll manually recreate the new contacts and whatever else I come across that were added and I'll have to live with a gap in my text/email/browsing history.
