Games?
Do you guys think that the next set of blackberries will be able to run more graphically demanding games?? I know that Android has all kinds of games and is even capable of running a playstation emulator. Is this gonna be possible on OS7??

I would think games will run smoother. I am looking forward to seeing how angry farm will run on this.

Hardware-wise, games should be no problem. The Bold 9900's MSM8655 1.2ghz processor is paired with the Adreno 205, same graphics processor as many of the current Android powered phones made by HTC (Thunderbolt, Desire S, Incredible S) as well as the Xperia Play (aka Playstation phone).

That's interesting you mentioned its paired with that gpu, if It truly is the same as the one In the xperia play then it would be nice to see some new games in the app world, although they would only be available to bb 7 users. Either way I doubt rim is going to use the gpu for much more then the "liquid graphics" of the os, just my 2 cents

Don't expect massive game support for the OS. It likely won't come until a while after QNX phones release.
Even though, how many people would buy this phone because of game support? I doubt that is the reason most purchasers are even looking at it... Likely it wouldn't make that much of a sales difference. My website http://papped.webatu.com - 05-04-2011, 02:34 PM #6
The fact that it is OS7 and That QNX Phones should come soon. People won't really wanna develop on it.

BB OS already has games. I'm saying don't expect top end gameloft/rovio/EA support. Expect more of the same type of games until QNX. There may be small exceptions for some titles but I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong.

The games that are out now for the current generation of blackberries are really bad. Too many framerate issues even when you're scrolling through the menus -_-. I hope at least that part can be addressed. Heck I'd be praising the gods if they can get a GBA emulator on there to work without any lag.

Dunno, i don't really have any issues with Nintaii, Aces Jewel Hunt, Aces Traffic Pack. Just have to find the right games.

thats one thing i hope happens.
playing a playstation emulator on my phone while using a Wiimote as the controller is amazing to do, especially with a kickstand to hold the phone up.
probably one of the coolest 'nerd' things to do with a phone imo.- Rich

It's about time we got some hardware support to drive some development but not on such a small screen. I would expect the next Torch or next full touch screen device to get much more gaming love then the 9900.

I'm not really expecting much for games. The BB OS is hard to build for I've heard, and with QNX coming up next it might not be worth the effort. Devs might just wait and develop for the much easier QNX instead.

I would imagine people making games for the torch 2 and curve touch as they have bigger screens. The 9900 isn't really a gaming phone.
