Edge Extended, a high profile game for 9860/9850!
So, I was perusing the game section of App World a couple weeks ago (yeah I know, I was bored). Usually I end up lamenting the limited BB game selection, but this time was different. After looking at the preview pictures of the game in question, I was intrigued. A 3d game with some slick-looking production values. At first I downloaded the trial, but it wasn't made for the 9860, and the screen ended up looking messed up. Plus, only the first 2 levels are available, and after that the game locks up until you make a full purchase.
So, with the limited knowledge I had of the game, I decided to take a chance, and purchased the full version. This turned out to be a good decision. Edge Extended I think is one of the best games in App World. Think of it as a much better and less constrained Brain Cube (Ximad's game is probably based on this actually). I can't speak about other devices, but the game suits the large touch screen of the 9860 very well (no landscape mode though). Controls work good, although there is a slight learning curve. The first 15 levels or so are very easy, but after that the training wheels come off. It can get difficult, but I've never been frustrated (not yet anyway).
It wasn't until later that I found out that the game is critically acclaimed on other platforms. Of course, there are a few things missing from the iPhone and Android versions. The zooming effects and sound, for example. I would love to see the complete version of this game release for at least the BlackBerry OS7 devices. And I think the only way that might happen is if people know what they're missing and buy it. If games like this sit at the bottom of the pile in AppWorld, we will never get anything good. Do yourself a favor and give it a try. - 05-25-2012, 10:23 AM #2
