I have been using this app for over a month (youmail service for longer) and love it. Recently I am finding that the app is not checking for voicemails, or the message is not being pushed to the app. I have to manually check for messages. This is pretty annoying, since it was working fine before.
I have checked all the settings I can and a google search has proved fruitless.
Anyone have advice? Or maybe it is so simple I overlooked?

I had the same problem and had to delete and re-install the app. I did it several times and give up on youmail and started using fusion visual voicemail
