    I believe the OP is refering to webmessenger the application and I just tested it with my 8130 pearl data usage before signing on and after it uses data. the messeges sent are instance messeges not text so data is infact used. hope this helps

    I used webmessenger for while, and it absolutely uses data. Not a bad app, if it would have stayed connected for me.

    Definitely data.


    The only 3rd party apps that uses text are the carrier branded apps.
