First, a little background. I tried a Verizon Curve months ago and realized that without BES, I wouldn't be able to manage my wireless information the way I wanted to. Now that I'm about to install BES, I'm again looking at BB devices, just torn between purchasing a well tested device like the Curve, or buying the recently released Storm. I hate buying version 1.0 of any hardware or software.

NOW... for my question. I see ads for this TetherBerry software claiming that it bypasses the carrier's restrictions on accessible sites, etc.

Are many sites blocked when tethering with Verizon? (I don't care about porn sites, etc.) Or is this software a method of using the webbrowsing capabilty of my $44.99 data/messaging plan without having to pony up the additional $15/month for the 3 or 4 times a month I might actually tether my BB to my laptop?

(And feel free to comment on my Curve -vs- Storm dilema (much to TearBear's chagrin)!

My thanks to the Brotherhood of Crackberry users for your comments!

First to answer your question on tetherberry I love the Tetherberry I was a beta tester and now have the full version. What it means is yes you can use it to tether your blackberry to your laptop and there is only one fee. No recurring monthly fee from Verizon.

I have download speeds with tetherberry of 800kbps per sec and upload of 450. so it isnt all that slow either. I am like you I only need to tether 3 - 4 times a month so it isnt worth the $30 fee to add it to my Verizon account

I have one of the original Storms from Nov 21st you have to decide what you like better the keyboard on the curve or the larger keyboard on the storm thats an important item.

I love my storm and yes it definately had problems but the leaked OS's here really zippied mine up it is working super with .109.

Good luck in your adventure of finding a phone!!!!!!!
