Up until last night i was getting the red asterisk on the Socialscope icon and the icon at the top whenever i get a new post via twitter or Facebook. Now all i get it is the red led light and then that goes away.

How do i get the asterisk and top icon back when i get a new post?

Delete the app, then re-install from socialscope.net I have had that happen, especially when I have so many twitter apps running. Hope this helps!
