This app identifies the name & artist for a song by listening to the song for about 10-15 seconds.
A couple years ago it was prominently featured in Apple's "there's an app for that" iPhone commercials on TV, but no idea what TV content you get there.

This is the free version, which allows 5 "Tags" per month.
The Premium version, Shazam Encore, is unlimited and offers a ton more features. It costs $4.99 or $5.99.

I know it works in Canada, USA, and UK for sure. Don't know about elsewhere. Here's the App World link so you can check for yourself:

One of the best made apps for doing what it claims to do. My Daughter loves it and cannot get far in the car without having to 'Shazam' a song on the radio!

Agreed! Very cool, very well done.

This is one of those "show-off" apps if your friends or family haven't heard of it.

And it saves you from damaging your steering wheel during a temper tantrum after your radio station doesn't say what song that was. You don't have to wait to find out—just Shazam it!

Love this product and have it running on my 9800.
But there is one kind of bad thing that I'm still unable to figure out

Once you have your own tagged items (i.e. My Tags), there's no way to back them up. Meaning if you should do an OS upgrade, all your tagged items get lost, even after saving and restoring 3rd party apps.

Anyone else experiencined this prob?

Update: I just upgraded to this new 2.8 ver and lost all my tagged items....sheesh!

Anyone knows if this new version works for the Storm 2.

When I am downloading it says there is a module that might not be compatible with my device that if I want to continue or not....
Dunno what to do...

I am running it on my Storm2.
Try uninstalling, restarting, and reinstalling.
Question - do you use Amazon MP3?

Bold 9700 on T-Mobile with the latest 6.0 leak installed.

I have not been able to use this or the previous version. It downloads, installs, and then when it reaches the setup button point it can't connect and will ask me if I want to try again. It never connects. I have used this on my 9700 before with an older os installed and also paid for full version.

I have also tried downloading from their website rather than AppWorld and it tells me my phone is not supported.

Have contacted their support before and they are pretty much useless in terms of solving the situation or giving an explanation.

Anyone else have the same problem or know what is up?

I had this issue after an OS upgrade one time and their support told me uninstall, reinstall and do a physical battery pull after the install... Worked for me...

You know if you paid for it you can contact their support and move it to your new device right?

Well, I have Bold 9700 and currently on OS 6.534. I have been using this paid version since OS5. Yesterday I nuked my BB and lost all applications including Shazam. I tried to go to their getjar.com/shazam but it says that my phone isn't supported. Weird.

Any solution to this? Btw, I live in Asia.

I tried using the internal "upgrade" and it said I've got the latest version. My version of 2.5.2 - which is obviously not the latest. I've got the 9650/bold with OS 5.xxxx

And I don't trust appworld to do the right thing!!!!

Oh, and like others, when I've upgraded the OS, etc, I have lost the items I've tagged. There does not seem to be a way to backup. And, if I recall, I inquired about that ages ago and was told it would be coming - NOT!

I know, I know, you hate App World...

I think you should stop banging your head against the wall and either:
1. Download AW, use it to update Shazam, delete AW if desired; or
2. Visit AW webstore from PC, check out new desktop DL options

Yes, this shouldn't be difficult to implement!

I wish the dev would spend less time perfecting Twitter integration and other fluff, and more time patching this obvious hole in the app's features.

All is well. We hit that restaurant again before the opera a few weeks back - still good.

I guess, stagnating with OS5 has kept me quieter and retirement has freed up time for other endeavors although weather and gas prices are making adventures less frequent. We are still looking for a reason to cross the border and deal with the uniforms in both directions!

Also been hanging out in Kindle forums a bit, too.

I spent half an hour last night trying to recall my appworld log on. No-can-do. I recall "registering" for it when I was visiting LA. So I probably used my sister's computer. I have the Shazam/paypal receipt but trying that email address does not get me in. I have the 400 digit code, too. Too many email addresses and none seem to be right. I find no email directly from appworld acknowledging my registering or creating an ID.

Will downloading directly from their site upgrade-in-place and not require. While the fee to repurchase would not kill me, I'm not sure that the new one offers more that I need.
