How do I check to see what Apps are running in the background om my S2.

Hold the BB button until the app switcher appears.

Hold down the menu key for 1-2 seconds and a banner will come up showing what is running.

Can some of the programs running in the back ground be closed to speed up the BB response?

There will always be 5 apps running in that screen. Home, Phone, BBM, Messages, and Browser.
