QuickWeather has been updated to version 1.4

* Available for OS 5 and OS 6 devices.

QuickWeather will display your current weather conditions anywhere on your homescreen.




New Features:
* Added 'Humidity' and 'Wind Speed' to displayable options

* App icon now displays current temperature

* Text can now be aligned center left or right within the QuickWeather widget itself

* When returning to homescreen from another app QuickWeather will fade into view instead of suddenly appearing

* City and Current Conditions display options are now separate entities

* QuickWeather menu option will now take you to QuickWeather Options screen if pressed while QuickWeather is active

* Quite a few little bug fixes

Old Features:
* Save Multiple Locations
You can now save an unlimited amount of locations. When you add a location it will now be saved in the 'Previous Locations' list so you can easily select a location. Locations can also be deleted from the list.

* Animated Weather Radar (Currently U.S. locations only. Sorry)
View animated radar of your current location or a locations stored in the 'Previous Locations' list.

Choose from the following types of radar:
Base Reflectivity, Storm Relative Motion, Base Velocity, One-Hour Precipitation, Composite Reflectivity, Storm Total Precipitation

Choose the following Overlays:
Topo, County, Rivers, Highways, Cities, Warnings and Legend
There is a help screen for the radar types that briefly explains what each type is for etc

* 7 Day Text Forecast (Currently U.S. locations only)
View a detailed 7 day text forecast for your location

* Location Aware setting
[Cell Tower Location or GPS Location]
Enable this feature to have QW automatically determine your current location. GSM Devices will use cell tower location if available. If GSM cell tower information is not available or you have a non GSM device (ex: CDMA) QW will use GPS location if GPS service on your device is enabled.

* Temperature 'Feels Like' display
(heat index / wind chill factor value)

* New Location ID method
You can now enter your City Name, or Zip Code, province, municipality etc to set your location.
No more going to the Yahoo Weather page!!
Example: 'Tokyo' or 'New York, NY' or 'London, England or '92129' etc;

* Displays current temperature and hi/lo forecast
* Choose update frequency
* Change background color
* Change text color
* Set transparency level
* Set on-screen location
* Display weather conditions or city name
* Celsius or Fahrenheit
* 2 layout styles

* Also includes 5 day Graphical Forecast display (not a widget but a popup window) which displays temperature forecast, current temperature, current humidity level, wind speed and sunrise / sunset times

Unlike other weather apps, QuickWeather does not work by changing your wallpaper.

QW has a very small footprint, is not active when the backlight is off or your device is in bedtime mode and has no lag or battery drain effects on your device. A Quick and Simple glance at your weather!

Disclaimer: Animated Radar is sometimes flaky. This is due to the radar data being obtained from the National Weather Service and their servers are sometimes unreliable. I will try to find a better service for radar data in the future.

Like the update with the new features and no screen flashes anymore with the fade into view effect. Wind speed and humidity are great additions too!

This app messes with QuickPull and doesn't allow it to automatically reset. Weird, huh? Very nice update. I wish the font was adjustable. The lettering is too small for these old eyes.

does it need a weather app? haha. no. quickweather IS a weather app.
i'm not sure of the size at the moment. it's very small. mobihand or app world lists the file size i think

is anyone noticing excessive battery use since the update? i am 1.4 is not playing nicely with my phone (9700, os6 -a roadrunner 10 hybrid, telus mobility) could it be the hybrid?? i have uninstalled and reinstalled quickweather, performed several battery pulls, changed batteries, and i am getting crazy discharge off my battery.

all i know is 1.3 was much better, is there anyway i can request 1.3 ota?

QuickWeather is not causing your battery drain. Not possible. It's not active when you're not on your homescreen and it only downloads about 600bytes of data at your scheduled interval time. By comparison just visiting the google homepage is about 30,000 bytes.

Having problem after the update the widget is not showing up on the home screen

I just downloaded it. Its about 191.5kb according to my phone. I think its sweet.

One aspect that is confusing me is the Location Aware option. I have it set YES and my location ID is also filled in. But the widget shows the city of the zip code thats in Location ID and not the actual location I am at currently. What gives?

To my point about location awareness, its raining outside for a while now and the QW is showing sunny and fair as weather. All settings are set to allow. What gives again?

the location aware function works. i'm 100% sure of that. did you read all the text in the location aware section of the options page?

Thanks for the reply. And I believe you that it works, what I was trying to ask was that if the location is changing based on GPS (I use CDMA service phone), does the name of the city also changes?

Also, what do you think the reason is for QW giving me fair weather and mostly sunny when infact it has been raining and mostly cloudy all day long?

The details of how it works is in the location aware section of the options.
It says:
"Enable this feature to have QW automatically determine your current location. "GSM Devices will use cell tower location if available. as for sunny / fair -- how did you enter the location in location id before you hit 'verify'? im sure this function works too.

you should enter city name. not zip code. what city?

also if u entered city name and not zip check the yahoo weather page for your location and see if it says rainy
