Question for Iphone/Android forum members: How many apps do you actually use?
I was with two of my Italian friends who both run Iphones and they made the typical comment about BB's not having apps. I showed them all of mine and they were surprised and they had really believed that outside of BBM that Blackberry has NO good apps. One of my American friends was also looking at new phones, I told him to give the 9930 a look, and he asked if it even had twitter. He honestly thought he had to have a Droid or Iphone to have twitter.
I just want to know how many apps you owners have and use frequently.
Here is my list:
Bold 9700 OS 6 (.668) Shrunk
Bloomberg
Blackberry News Feeds
Blackberry Bridge
Blackberry Travel
BBM
BBM Music (over 4k songs and growing everyday- love it)
Google Maps
Facebook
BeWeather full
Twitter
Whatsapp
Docs2Go Full
Flashlight
IDOS(train/bus time tables for Czech Republic)
Shazam
XE currency converter
Password safe
Memopad
3 Email accounts
Last question, what apps that are not availible on bb keeps you away from the platform?
I wish I had skype, that's the biggest gripe I have. However, since I am still on a 2009 device I can't complain too much. - 02-14-2012, 06:45 AM #2

Daily (in rough order, from morning until night), excluding built-ins like iMessage, Weather, Mail, and Browser.
I bolded the ones that I'd REALLY miss (no real browser substitute on a phone)
True Weight
Facebook
Starbucks
DrudgeReport
Camera+
HootSuite (contantly)
Heart Fitness
CardMunch
iCam (for home and work camera monitoring)
Google Earth
DirecTV
iMovie
NetFlix (not daily)
Find My Friends
Pages and Numbers
Kindle Reader
YouVersion Bible
Instapaper (constantly)
ScanPages by Ricoh (constantly)
Dropbox (constantly)
GarageBand or AmpliTube (depends on the day)
Take away Dropbox, ScanPages, Instapaper, iCam, and either GarageBand or AmpliTube, and I'm going to be VERY unhappy. Too much of my workflow is built around having Dropbox, Instapaper, and something like Scanpages on every device, along with Hootsuite for all social media management.Last edited by Palmless; 02-14-2012 at 07:23 AM.

*** apps not yet on BB (AFAIK) in bold.
Don't know that I'd say any one app keeps me away from BB (though I would like to see more built-in cohesiveness; for example, document app that works natively with Dropbox). - 02-14-2012, 07:37 AM #7

Two specific coding apps I need are only available on iOS and Android and not BB. I use those daily at work.
Also have a couple of NHL team apps (MN Wild, Tampa Bay) plus Rockapella which are iOS only.
There are 5 apps that keep me away from BB. Not to mention Words with Friends, Angry Birds and a couple of news stations in Memphis that only offer iOS apps.
I don't download crap apps. I download ones I need and use.God save us all. Go Sharks.

(Not listing stock apps here).
On a weekly basis, far too many to list.
Games are a nice bonus that I never even considered when I used a blackberry.
139 apps total. Consisting of productivity, Photo/Video editing, Camera apps, Entertainment apps, Games, Reference etc.
They don't get used every day or even weekly but I have the space and they're nice to have when I need them.Last edited by xandermac; 02-14-2012 at 09:56 AM.

On a daily basis I use:
Tweetbot, WhatsApp, Pandora, Instagram, Facebook, Starbucks, Yelp, Engadget, YouTube, iMessage, Weather, Music, Email, Google Maps.
What keeps me away from from BlackBerry isn't just the apps that it's lacking, but also the quality of the apps. I switched from an iPhone 4 to a 9700 at one point. Many of the apps I needed I could get like Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp. However, the quality of their iPhone counterparts is just far superior. They look better, function better, are more rich with features. I definitely do need Instagram, though. - 02-14-2012, 09:34 AM #13
I use about 15 apps daily but have 30+ apps installed.
- 02-14-2012, 09:45 AM #14
I thought my list would have six apps... it wasn't until I thought through "What about before work... what about in meetings... what about in the car... what about after work" that I was able to list them, very surprised actually.

How many apps? Weekly? If you count games only, anywhere from 5-20. Apps in general? 5-10 excluding games and the built in browser and email app.
But keep in mind that it's not always the same apps. Part of what is so awesome about having a wide and deep selection like in the App store and Android Market is that there is a multitude of apps for the same purpose. I might use one music player for a month or two, then try a different one for a month or two, before the updated version of a third player catches my attention.
I thought I'd try a shopping list app the other week, and downloaded 6 different apps and widget within a couple of minutes that I thought I'd try out before choosing one, as an example.
And as for Blackberries, I haven't had one for a couple of years, but I DID play around with Playbooks extensively, and almost bought one last summer (thank god I didn't! Would have been really pissed off if I had bought one for 500, when you can get it for less than half that price now!)
What made me make up my mind once and for all about the Playbook, was when I searched the app market for a podcast app, and it returned 0 results, as opposed to the handful of podcast apps available on the Android market specifically for tablets, and the dozens of podcast apps available in general.Last edited by CrackedBarry; 02-14-2012 at 10:52 AM.
