I downloaded Opera Mini 5 (Blackberry) from their website to my computer then loaded it to my Verizon 9550 via Desktop Manager. It installs properly and I get it to open but I can select anything at all. It just won't respond.

I had the beta and it worked perfectly but because of too many screen freezes, I wiped out everything today and am installing only the necessary apps back.

Looking at the ABOUT in the options in my phone:
v5.0.0.428 (Platform 4.2.0.182)

Going back to the Opera Mini download site: it gives you options of choosing the appropriate firmware version: 4.2.1, 4.3 and 4.7 but not 4.2.0

Is this why the program is not working. I chose to download 4.2.1 but there is no 4.2 or 4.2.0

try this, delete the installed opera mini, and with your browser goto m.opera.com. It should come up and see that your using a storm 9550.

It will give you a BLACKBERRY specific link to download the new opera 5
