Looks feels and acts just like a BBM but for us non RIM users....

PingChat! 2.0 - Instant messaging used by millions.

and since it is cross platform you can talk to Apple users or Android users.

I managed to download the application by going to pingchat.com/blackberry from my device. It downloaded and installed alright, although I don't have any contacts on it!

It's been a tad sketchy (some messages haven't sent), and very BB transfer limited, but it's just in the early beta stage. I can see this, if all the functions get up to speed, being quite the IM.

Anyone else tried this? If so, what's your PingChat username and I'll try to help see if there are any problems in the application

Quick update: I've just installed it on the iPhone and it all seems to be working well. Every message sent has been received to and from the BlackBerry. This looks like a very promising application!

What would cause a http 400 error when logging in? This is on a 8530 with 5.0, connected to a BES on 5.0.1. My browser settings are on Internet Browser.

Keep trying. They seem to have issues with that at times.

If you are downloading from your BlackBerry browser then head straight to the link pingchat.com/blackberry

Also make sure that your browser settings is set to identify the browser as BlackBerry and not Internet explorer on your Blackberry phone as I had problems earlier with that!

Downloaded my copy, use the stock BB browser. It's pretty nice and works with iPhone & Android Ping users, I tested it messaging to my Android.

Messages show in inbox but they are not pushed to your phone - I seem to have to open the app to Dl meassges and enter or tracpad does not send - you have to menu to send.

Not as fast or as easy as whatsapp and your iphone friends have to put up with an advert..... Apparently

Strange! Maybe we're on 2 different versions. I'm on pimpchat 1.0.3, and can open it from my message folder, and hit enter to send.

Our iphoney friends have almost equal to BBM capabilities. So if it ends up truly working full function, cross platform, it will be epic, and the ads just a minor nuisance.

    I'm remaining optimistic for now.
