To free up some memory, is it as easy as moving app icons (select & drop) into existing folders that are on the desktop, i.e. moving Vcast, camera etc. and puting them into the applications folder?

As Philip said this will not free up memory.
I would suggest looking thru the Tips, tricks, how-to section....this really helped me when I first got my Storm. There are alot of posts...but take the time to read thru them and it will pay off in the end.
