    You can call it, and maybe your carrier could find it.
    I don't think there's anything you can use to find your phone without installing it before you lose it.

    Right, I want to install an app before I lose it...just in case. Is there one that uses GPS?

    Try lookout security. Works for me and has an option for an audible alarm or just track it on another smartphone or pc

    Lookout is the best free option imo.
    I have buddyguard pro, but lookout is almost as good and free.
