    Hi folks

i was bored 1 day and i was messing about with my blackberry and i managed to pull my sim card out of my 9300 with out turning it off and bbm was still working properly for a good hour or so.

here is where my theory comes into play if there was a way of hot swapping
2 sim cards 1 with the bb data plan to the sim card with out and then turning off mobile network and turning it back on again you will get network coverage back and still hopefully be able to use bbm while in a wifi environment thus solving the on going issue of no bbm without a data plan.

i have attempted to do this myself i manage to pull out the sim card but when it comes to putting the other one in my finger disconnect the battery from the phone.

it would be an intresting thing to experiment with if anyone on this forum has small skinny fingers please give this a try if you can.

what do you think on my theory guys !!!

If a GSM BB boots without a BIS/BES provisioned SIM, it will not allow connection to the Blackberry servers.

but the thing is you still need a data plan

its more of a pain in the a$$ than anything, and why carry 2 sims?

it could be like a 1 day work around, but to do this everyday?
    while still paying?

    really?

Well, not just a data plan, but the BlackBerry-specific data plan.
