Default iSilo for Blackberry Beta is HERE!

iSilo™ is a highly versatile document reader available for Palm OS®, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Sybmain UIQ, Symbian Series 60, and Windows® CE Handheld PC handhelds, as well as for Windows® computers. You can find thousands of ready-made documents downloadable immediately for reading with iSilo™ or you can create your own documents from HTML content using iSiloX. Some of the major features that will win you over to iSilo™ include:

    * High text compression in iSilo™ format documents result in a 50% to 60% decrease in size, which is about 20% better than the Palm Doc format, allowing you to store more and larger documents on your handheld.
    * Hyperlinks make it much easier to navigate through a document.
    * Images add visual richness to documents, especially photo-quality color pictures.
    * Tables allow the display of tabular data.
    * Formatted text gives style to text for controlled emphasis.
    * VFS support on Palm OS® allows you to store and access documents on high-capacity removeable storage.

I LOVE THIS APPLICATION FOR PALM!

My new Curve is good in many ways but the Blackberry SUCKS for attachments and document reading. If this indeed is here, it will significantly improve the quality of your Blackberry life. I am downloading this now and will gladly pay the man the money if it's true... finally... I'll be able to read docs like a normal human being who doesn't own a Blackberry...

    -----------

Just downloaded and installed. It does work but unfortunately not seeing my txt and other docs just yet. Hopefully we'll get it to work. As a reader, it far surpasses anything else I've seen and allows you to do a great many things (at least on Palm) than other readers. From what I did read, though, because BB is Java based, all applications are slower than native software on Palm and Pocket PC and Symbian... but for reading this should be fine.

I'm THRILLED!!!! I'm a long-time Palm user and have been using iSilo for years, first with my PDAs and later my Treo phone. I just switched to a Blackberry but I'm missing my favorite Palm OS applications now, especially iSilo. I am downloading this now!!!!

Will iSiloX also work with it??? I loved that for snagging web pages to carry with me.

I'll post later once I see how it works. I will be a very happy camper if I can get this program back.

Does iSilo help read PLAIN TEXT, pdf or similar documents natively or do these documents have to be converted into isilo format?

Seems it needs conversion but maybe someone can clarify this?

    Thanks

Just looked. Unfortunately iSilio for BB will not do what I thought and you hoped. It won't convert PDFs. It also doesn't read most of the doc formats I thought (and could do on the Palm) natively.

What document types can iSilo™ 3.x and 4.x read?iSilo™ 3.x and 4.x can read documents in the iSilo™ 3.x/4.x, iSilo™ 1.x/2.x, and Palm Doc formats.

How can I create a document in the iSilo™ 3.x/4.x format? You can use iSiloX to convert HTML, text, Palm Doc, GIF, JPEG, PNG, and BMP content to a document in iSilo™ 3.x/4.x format.
