i have blackberry curve 8900 version 4.6.1.114 and i'm using the older version of facebook blackberry version 1.6.0 because i've read that you can use wifi with the older facebook version without data plan. however i still can't connect. it says "could not connect because a data service is not available...etc" i tried to turned it off and remove the sim card and battery however it's still not resolved. is there any other way i can use facebook blackberry using wifi?? thank you very much for your answers.

WiFi only? Or do you also have BES/BIS?
Without BES/BIS I am fairly certain that the official Facebook-App will not work.

Wifi only works for me with Facebook, but NOT App World. Which blows.

    +1

all blackberry core apps, as well as most third party apps require a BIS/BES account, with a compatible blackberry specific data plan... while most of these apps can be configured to use wifi instead of your data connection (most newer devices do this automatically) you still need the BIS account, as your wifi connection will still go through the BIS (not using data allotment)
