I was wondering how many mb are there for apps? How many mb do you need to save so it doesn't freeze up? I just want to know so when i add apps i can add up the amount of kb so i dont go over?

Usually, you don't want to fall below 5 MB of File Free Memory. The newer 4.5 OSes are more forgiving than earlier ones. I know of peoples that have gone lower than 5, but best not to make it a habit.

Does 4.5 OS perform better than 4.3 OS? Do you get better battery life on 4.5 OS?

In many ways, depending on the subversion, yes on performance. The bottom limit before you begin to see lag with OS 4.3 is about 10-12 mb. The memory management in the 4.5 OSes is greatly improved, so you get to use more of it.

The only real advantage that 4.3 had was the ability to 'force' roaming. That is eliminated with 4.5. One thing that 4.5 give you that is a plus in some cases is the ability to update to newer versions wirelessly, without having to be hooked up to a computer.

4.5 in subversions above .131 also support BBM 5.0.0.33, which isn't available on 4.3 OSes.

The battery life on subversions vary. Many give a slight improvement. The one I'm using now, life is sacrificed a little for better signal holding capability. The area I'm in now, I used to have no signal, now I do. (8330/4.5.0.175 )

    Food for thought.
