HipVoice is interesting, but I agree that $10/month per user is a little steep.

I've used Palringo (free) to "talk" with others on PCs and iPhones (and BBs). There is a slight delay with Palringo, but hey, it's free. I've also sent voice messages via BBM. Between those two options, I haven't found a need for HipVoice.
