I loaded the new Google Maps on my 8130 & on my 8330. The Pearl (8130) updated to 3.0.0 & the Curve (8330) updated to 3.0.1
So it seems to depend on what model you load the update on.
I searched both phones & they have the same options available.
I hope that clears it up some.

Both the pearl and curve will update to 3.0.1. The reason why your pearl didn't is because you didn't clear the cache from your browser before the new download.

On my Bold it updated without removing the old version. it also kept the 'favorites' and says it is 3.0.1
It also asks if I want to join Latitude (not!)

It still thinks that I am 1000 ft from my real physical location

I'm usually at about 50 % by the end of the day and today I had to recharge when I got Home

I'm glad I came back & checked this thread. I didn't have the issues that 3.0.0 reports, but I cleared my cache & re-installed. I am now sporting the 3.0.1 version on both (Curve & Pearl). Thanx again!

Agreed. I like the function, but menu>exit now to prevent the battery dying so quickly.

You know what I mean... at the moment it's only made possible on the G1 I believe.

lol...nope. Check your device. Open G-maps..when the page fully loads, click somewhere on the screen. A white rectangular box will open with some options like "Directions to here" "Set Location Here" etc. Street view is one of those available options in that box. Just make sure you're viewing a map of an area that has been mapped for Street View Works just fine on my Storm

Me too, but given that there is no GPS in there, not too shabby...
