    Default Google Maps is back

    Morning,

Saw an article on Nerdberry that google maps is back. Just installed it on my 9780 and it's appears to be working fine.

Hmmmm I also noticed that the Google Mobile page has a 2 step Authenticator app for BB. I installed it and it generates the authentication keys on your device so you can log in to your Gmail account if you have 2 step turned on. Normally the key is texted to your phone but, this app is nice for times when you don't have service and need to log in to Gmail from a "strange" computer.

I don't think it ever disappeared. I seem to recall that in that December time-frame at least one CB'er posted that G-maps was moved to that less accessible location.

That is good news! They had removed the authenticator link for BB OS 7.1 devices, and now it is back. Google Authenticator also works with Dropbox, Lastpass, WordPress, ...etc, and Google's implementation for Gmail is very nice. They offer one time access codes and/or voice or SMS verification to multiple numbers if your mobile phone is not available for some reason.

The nerdberry site is a little confused. They said it came back with a slight update to 4.5.3. But that's the same version for BB that they've had since March of 2011 and the version I've had on my phone since then.
