What I'd like to know is why "My Location BETA" isn't attained through GPS? Says it's triangulation from celltowers.
What good is that? Especially from a GPS oriented mapping application, haha... It has me jumping all over the place, haha...
It should if your gps is enabled.... when i have my bluetooth puck activated, there is no my location beta..... it's a direct pinpoint that says within 3 meters...
I agree though, but i think Google is just looking out for us verizon users.... lol
Without my puck enabled, it jumps me around all over the place and actually will put me across the sound out in another city that is about 5 miles away...
This is strange, my wife's curve (8320)has OS 4.3 and the voice search works great. My curve (8320) has OS 4.5 and when I try to use the voice search it hears what I am saying and tries to search but tells me that Google Maps can't connect. I wonder why.
I have an 8310 w/ VAD and OS 4.5..0.55 and the voice search seems to be trying to work...but I get that it couldn't connect. However if I type the search in its fine.
After I installed Google maps 2.2.2 launched the app, closed it, refreshed my GPS then restarted the Google Maps it seemed to work wonderfully til it came back that "Google Maps Can't Connect"
Voice search worked here. 8310 still with OS 4.2 something w/AT&T- deleted the old app, then installed 2.2.2 . Left side convenience key is set for 'manage connections'. Took a few tries to get the hang of it, but it worked a treat.
I installed Google Maps v2.2.2 on my 8130 using that extremely long URL and the Voice Search feature works as advertised. The display time of the copyright blurb you get when you load the app is much shorter so the initial location map is displayed earlier than before. Though I think I gained about 2 MB more free space, it may just be because I uninstalled v2.2.0 first before installing this one. So far, quite satisfied with this one.
