gmail app
My phone had been having issues, so I backed up my data and reloaded the OS and removed all my applications. So now I'm going to install the apps I need and I come to find out that google no longer has the gmail app available although it was installed on my phone and working fine. I guess the app didn't get backed up when I redid my phone so is there anyway to download this from somewhere like an .alx or .ali file and get it back on my phone?

Thanks, but I don't think that file will do anything for me as it's too small to be an app.. as it only contains the following:

MIDlet-Description: Google Mail
RIM-COD-URL-1: GoogleMail-5.cod
RIM-COD-URL-2: GoogleMail.cod

Thank you so much.. I had tried the link from my laptop thinking it was a file I could install to the phone via application loader. Once I tried the URL in my phone it worked like a charm! Cool now I have Gmail app back once again!

You're welcome. That's the fileset I'm hosting in my dropbox.
Google really screwed the pooch here. My link has been hit over 20,000 times since I first posted it in November...and that's just the hits tracked by goo.glMy BBM Channel: C00043675

The files I'm hosting use larger CODs. I'm willing to bet the files you found were decompressed into smaller CODs. I'd also bet you're running an older version of net_rim_bb_jaddownloadapp.cod on your device.
None of that is really that important, though. What matters is you were able to get the Gmail app installed.

Thanks
Thanks, am glad to have the gmail app back on changing phones.
Keep that site active please.
Basically the only thing that was missing from the generic 'envelope' was that I can't search for old emails on my blackberry without it. Is there a way of doing this without the gmail app, for example for other accounts? I will shortly be adding an 'ac.uk' and an nhs.net and another nhs account to the system.
Many thanks

Um, the search function does not work on my phone - any thoughts? I have put a link to the webpage on my front page (which works identically to the gmail app on my ipad - ie no push and a bit slow.) A working blackberry version was better than anything iphonish.
So I have now three different ways of accessing gmail, all better at different things. Sigh. - 09-23-2012, 03:58 PM #20
How would I set this to get notifications on my bb ? like a little envelope notifier like with the other emails ?

I downloaded the app and installed it on my bb 9220. I'm connected to internet via WI-FI.
When I started the app for the first time, i'm getting the error: "APN not specified"Developer of mHotspot.(Turn your laptop into Wifi Hotspot without installation]
