I made one for myself, and figured I might as well make a couple more.
My java skills are insufficient to make these all into one app. But I figure that's OK, cuz most people just listen to the area they're in right?
Most of these feeds come from RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference, and are licensed under a creative commons license (which means they're free to use if you give them attribution, like this).
Here's the OTA download links. I made some of the most popular feeds from RadioReference, all requested scanners, and some that I wanted myself.
To use, you just download, then click the app. It will probably give you a popup, select open rather than save and it will begin playing.
It will say buffering, but it will play like normal.
I've only tested the Tacoma and Provo ones, but they all should work. If any of them don't shoot me a PM and I'll see about fixing it.
Donations to my Playbook Fund are happily accepted but in no way necessary.
Thank you very much to the people who have donated.
If you want a scanner made, PM me the name of the department, a scanner feed (RadioReferece is a good place to look) and an image to use as the icon. If you want one made and don't want to find an icon or feed, I'm going to require a donation before I publish it.
(Note that these pics are in OS6, YMMV).
This is what the icons look like:
After you launch it, select Open:
Playing (like I said it'll say buffering but it plays fine):
Added Jones County MS.
Also, if you want a scanner for your area, please first locate the feed you want (radioreference is a good place to start) and find an image to use as the icon (can be any size or format, I'll have to resize it so don't worry about that).
I can do it, but it requires a lot less time if those two things are taken care of and I can have the launcher done in around 10-15 minutes rather than 20-30.
after a long weekend, i return here to find that SCrid has added my frequency, MOST excellent. Thanks a million! Testing now..
Edit: works like a charm! wish i could just isolate my towns frequency instead of it being mixed with my county but hey, it is what it is. and Scrid thanks for the plymouth pd icon, you didnt have to do that! Big ups bro
