Yeah, i used the trial and it was great but they cant expect a student up to the eyes in debt to spend 20 bucks on a simple program like that.
Yeah I absolutely agree with the ridiculous price. Granted, if you're using a BoldN sparing 20 bucks isn't terrible. But 20 for a electronic planner is a little outrageous. I love my BB, but the I find 3rd party applications way overpriced.

As a recent college graduate I felt the same way, I had a job and financial aid. I came out of college with almost 40k in loans. But I could have spared 20$ any given week. Just cut back for one weekend on the drinking, daily coffee, or the eating out for a week. Lots of ways to save a little money. Go tutor for a term. Sell your old books at the end of the term. Ride the bus for a week instead of drive... Get a second job.
Those are all things I did during my college tenur. Trust me even with the three degrees I earned, I'm using what I learned struggling for $ daily.
