BT is obviously way more convenient. Is there a speed degradation as a result of the wireless connection to my lap top?

When I had the Blackberry Tour it made no difference in tethering speed. Now with my Torch it actually does depending on the USB port. I have mine tethered thru my USB 3.0 port.

Stupid question: How can I tether via bluetooth on the Tour?

I always tether via USB and the speed is actually very good.

Pair the Tour with the compuiter through bluetooth and when in the options under DM select connect via bluetooth. And it should enable tethering with BT. If that doesn't work you will have to manually set up connections via Windows networking for a modem setup

Here's a how to tether to mac tutorial.... Not sure what you're trying to tether to. I was looking at the new mac air myself. I have a friend who got it and is thrilled so far.

Question about tethering though... Is is true that the connection drops every time the phone rings?
