what model Blackberry and does it have a GPS chip. I no GPS it will not work correctly if at all.

Yup, I think you need a BlackBerry phone that supports GPS. If you have the 8520, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, the Curve 8520 doesn't support GPS.

I get that message on my 8530! I've basically given up on using places on fb with this phone. I've checked my settings. Location on, gps enabled, everything and 9/10 I get "your location is temporarily unavailable". I'm not in a bad area at the times I try using it. I always have atleast 3 bars of signal strength and my gps works find with getting my location if I use google maps or the native map app. I don't know what's going on. I have had this phone since Jan 2nd and can only recall places working 3 times for me.
Social scope is able to pull up places near me. I don't know why this app isn't working for me.

okay i had the same problem and here is how i solved it
1) turn on your bluetooth
2) pair your device with someone if not already done
3) go to gps setting in options and it should say "gps data source"..select your paired device
4) check in on facebook

i hope this works for other people
