I was just wondering when will we ever be able to have Facebook Chat on our facebook blackberry app. I dont like all these programs like ebuddy you can download to use it, I would rather use it through the app itself that weve got. Does anyone have any information on this? and I hope it comes soon, because I love my berry and dont really want to transfer to an Iphone over one little app error that needs to be improved!

If you don't the FB chat in the next major update, then I'd say you're not getting
it anytime soon after that.

BeeJive has FB chat but yeah, it does cost $14.99

Buying BeeJive would be far more cost-effective.

Not sure if Trillian etc also provide this capability.

Ive tried beejive but it doesnt work on my phone what is the new verison of facebook coming out? i have the 1.7 version now i think :s

The current version of Facebook is 1.7, and RIM is beta testing the next update which is 1.8. It is much better and faster, however it does not have Facebook Chat. This is currently expected to be included in the Facebook 2.0 update, so don't give up hope quite yet!

As for getting this functionality now, I would highly recommend Trillian (Trillian - IM, Astra, Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, MySpace, AIM, Email, and more!) as it does include full support for Facebook Chat

I wouldn't expect it soon. Why doesn't beejive work on your 9700? Worked fine when I had a 9700.

Facebook chat will be a huge upgrade when they finally add it in the next few updates. I really wish everyone could just agree on one messager and make it all easy haha.

Unfortunately, not for some time. I do know OS6 comes with many improvements, including a built-in Facebook News Feed though...so when talking about the Facebook front, that is rather exciting

i thoghut they said 1.8 was supposed to be July and 2.0 by either end of year or next Spring. I cant remember exactly. There was a blog post on it.

I was doubting we would see FB Chat prior to BB6. Hopefully added to BB6, but I'm not holding my breath.

Between Trillian, BeeJive, IM+ (including the free Lite version), and a couple of others, you can at least have FB Chat on your BB without it being a native app.

Good Lord. BBs are not a new thing and FB is not new. Seems the app building
is way behind the times here.
