As the title says... who uses the facebook app over facebook mobile? i haven't used the app yet, but I was thinking about trying it out. I have heard that our app doesnt compare to the iPhone app, but is it worth installing or should I just stick with using the net??? Thanks!!!

The new version, 1.6 seems to be ok. But, if you're on BES, certain features won't work. Like contacts and calendar sync.

I use the application mostly, but use the mobile site as well. When the app is opened, if you hit the menu button, there is an option to take you to the mobile site...

...does using the 'go to mobile site' log you in automatically, too? (or am I asking for too much? - LOL)

The 1.6 app isn't too much different than the 1.2 I think it was but I mostly go to the mobile site. Using the full facebook site on my browser is data intensive (so I have unlimited everything) and makes my BlackBerry lag a lot. I only go to the full site when I use my BlackBerry as a modem for my laptop. You can't change your profile pic via app or mobile site. Unless someone has been able to then let me know cuz I haven't found a way...

I was using the Facebook app when I was using version 1.5. I then upgraded to 1.6. The new version ran slow on my Curve. If someone sent me a message with the new version it took a while to open the message. I would first go to my message box, click on the message, it would then open the message using Facebook. Version 1.5 would open the message right away. Version 1.6 would open the Facebook status page first, it would then start downloading status updates, then it would finally open the message. With the status updates trying to download in the background, it would make things slow. Since I've found no luck with getting version 1.5 back, I've taken the Facebook app off of my BlackBerry.

The problem with 1.2 was it had so many bugs, if you laid your BlackBerry on the table it would crawl away. The biggest bug was that the application would want to constantly update itself, using all data communication to do so. The result of this was not receiving emails, low battery, low device memory, etc.

I think I still liked 1.5. Version 1.6 seems to be a memory hog, too, no?

I like 1.5 better also, but for me 1.6 does not use as much memory as 1.5 did...

I am deleting 1.6 right now. It does nothing for me. I am better off with the mobile site. My file free was 16xxxxxx and that is no good.

I use both. For quick updates/browsing I go to the app. If I want to see a little more detail, I'll open the mobile site.

Let me ask you this A, did you install 1.6 over 1.5 or did you delete 1.5, then install 1.6? Or did you not use 1.5?

Gotcha, I noticed that people who installed 1.6 over 1.5 had issues...

Well for me it doesn't beat the mobile site. If I want to see pictures and stuff like that then I just wait till I get home. I mostly just read status' and update mine.

no need for a slow memory hog of an app!

I installed 1.6 over 1.5 and have no issues. Its a little slower to update but I like how it shows pictures.
I use Opera Mini to go to the full site too.
    They both work great.
