why is it that when I try to access the facebook app it gives me an error message saying: You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan
You need to contact your carrier and have them add a Blackberry data plan not a generic data plan.
Have a look at your homescreen, is there 4 little dots(bis icon) next to the 3G or wifi(if on wifi)icons? If not your not on a BIS data plan. If there is then go to manage connections > service status, then look to see what it says for "Blackberry Internet Service"(bis), should say either wifi or mobile network. If it says not connected then you need to call your carrier. If it does then I would uninstall then reinstall the app and see if that fixes it.
And even if you're outside of 3G or wifi service area, you should see at least EDGE in all caps. That also indicates BIS service over slower 2G data connection.
