You dont need a keycode for BBM. Its live as of about 30 mins ago. This update for FB does and so does the Windows Messenger Live update for which ive received 3 and none of them work. The BlackBerry Beta folks need to get it together

you guys its not official FB 1.8. Make sure to follow the instruction step by steps or else it will ask you for keycode.

the FB1.8, is faster loading and viewing pic's. scrolling through status, friends list is a lot faster too. Huges difference from the official.

    INSTRUCTIONS

This does appear to be the version in the Beta Zone since it requires a keycode but one of the posters in the groups page provided a workaround which actually works. Here are the steps:

-Make sure you have the latest official version of Facebook for Blackberry installed from blackberry.com/facebook.

-Download the Facebook beta app (links below).

-When the download is finished and you are prompted to rebootDONT.

-Press the red call button to escape to the homescreen.

-Go your Facebook app icon and click it.

-Accept the terms and go into the app.

-Once the app is running open the menu and select options then logout.

-Re-run the app and input your login credentials to access Facebook.

-Reboot your BlackBerry after the Facebook app fully loads.

Once your BlackBerry is up and running access the Facebook app again. It should now be version 1.8.0.31 without a keycode!

warning: you guys might run into Notification problems. You might receive email instead of app notifications. When it does happen, make just pull the battery until if fixed. sometime you dont get the notification right away but nothing you can do with that.

I followed the directions to the T and it worked flawlessly. Not really seeing any differences though but FB has always been crap on my 9700.

    Regardless...thanks for sharing!

I've been using FB 1.8 for a while now. It loads a lot faster than 1.7 did. That's the biggest difference I've seen so far.
