I just recently upgraded my 8900 to the new OS 4.6.1.231 a couple of weeks ago after reading that would help with my battery life. Problem is...just yesterday I upgraded to the new Facebook app 1.7. It is draining my battery EXTREMELY fast. Even when I "close" out of it it still drains pretty fast. I tried uninstalling it and that helped tremendously which leads me to believe it is the app. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue and what they are doing to remedy the problem. I LOVE the new app. and want to use it but HATE the battery life issues with this phone.

Im running 1.7 with .231 and I am seeing no battery issues. Is it possible that you have another app open as well as FB I'm getting 2 days between charges

Is there a way to check to see what apps may be running in the background?

Hold down your Blackberry menu button [] for 2 seconds. That will bring up the app switcher.

Also there are 5 things always running. Phone, Browser, BBM, Home, Messages

And from the app switcher, just go through different programs and select close. Though one of the biggest battery drainers is probably clicking a button to open up the display. Try turning down the brightness, and avoid habitual checking for messages with no light flashing

THANKS...I did close some apps and then also deleted some of the apps I longer used. I guess I just assumed if you backed out of an app (using power button) it closed. Didn't realize I did have a number of things open. Seemed to have fixed the problem. Have reinstalled the Facebook 1.7 app and don't seem to have the battery life issue anymore...THANKS for the help!!

I had that issue, but then upgraded to the most recent 5.0 OS and works great now.

I'm running 5.0 and when I installed fb 1.7 a couple of days ago I too saw a significant decrease in battery life. I uninstalled it and my battery life has gone back to normal. I don't know if it means anything but my experience does corroborate arjohnson79's.

I've also noticed this issue. I'm on T-Mobile's official .231 and have since downgraded to Facebook V1.6 to resolve.
