I just looked in the crackberry app store and found the 2 mentioned apps. One is much cheaper than the other and offers a free trial. Once the easy standby trial is downloaded, it is referred to as AutoStandTrial. Is this the same app? If not what is the major difference?

AutoStandby all the way. Zaventh is a member of CB and frequents the forum. Rest assured if you have a problem with his application he will do his best to resolve it with you ASAP.
AutoStandby all the way. zaventh is always in the forums and will hep you out if there are any problems. Do a search in 3rd Party Software for AutoStandy and you will see what we mean.
Autostandby is the best, can be tuned to not work when selected applications are running and frequent updates come out as soon as something is not working as expected. You would think on the surface this should be an easy application, it turns out it is not at all!! Z has done a great job with this and I would go with it for sure. Helps with battery life big time if you don't use a holster with a magnet in it as well. BTW a new update (2.3) was posted today to clean up some minor issues! Try it you'll like it!!
