I was prompted on App World about a new update for the free version of Drivesafely. The new update is v2.42, updated it this morning along with WhatsApp. I noticed that I did not get a notice to reboot after downloading Drivesafely (I can't remember if it does ask for reboot in previous updates), but I got a reboot message for WhatsApp after a few minutes later.
Did a reboot. WhatsApp working fine. I clicked on the Drivesafely icon and.. nothing happened. Clicked on it again. Still nothing. So I did a battery pull. Still nothing when clicking on Drivesafely. I figured maybe the install was faulty. So deleted it, battery pull, installed, battery pull to be safe. Still nothing.
So was driving around today with no Drivesafely *gah*. Anyone experiencing this? Anyone happen to have the previous version via OTA?
I did read the reviews and there was another 8520 user who reported the same problem.
Same here. Tried on a 9800, 9700 and 9100. Wrote to their tech support, haven't heard back yet. Ended up deleting and installing 2.25 from their website instead.
"Hello, You may need to edit the application permissions: To edit permissions, in your BlackBerry, go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> Highlight the application (Don't Click) -> Hit BB Menu Key -> Edit Permissions > Set all to Allow -> Hit BB Menu Key and Select Save -> Pull out and Replace Battery

@Vyrenee, contacted them too and got the same response you got. Until then I'll be using the version andy957 posted up.
Glad it helped!
Interesting that initially when I wrote to their tech support I got an answer stating that it was a permissions issue. So it wasn't until I sent them a link to this thread, as well as pointed out to them that there were a slew of comments right on the App World download page that many others were having the same problem, that they paid attention.
I had exactly the same issue with my BB Curve 8520. Reinstalled version 2.25 from andy957's link (above in this thread) and all fixed. When the upgrade failed I actually downloaded a similar app "Text and Drive" to see if that would work... sadly just not as good, so I am very pleased I found this fix. Don't know how I would have survived without this app!!!
I missed 2.41 -- for me, 2.40 worked, but 2.42, 2.43, and 2.44 all failed to launch. The app asks for "Trusted Application Status" the first attempt after installing, but that's it! :-(
Unfortunately, the time that it takes updates to be pushed out via App World doesn't help the situation at all -- their server caching and notification implemetation is absolutely horrendous!

I thought the same thing. Then I tried deleting the app entirely and reinstalling version 2.44 and it now works fine. See if anyone else can replicate this. Thanks.

Seems like we've heard this story already. I can't understand how they can keep releasing updates without thoroughly testing them out. This doesn't speak well for their QA staff.

Hey, so I deleted v2.25 on my phone and wanted to try the v2.44 to see if it works on my phone. I went into App World and downloaded it, says v2.44.
Rebooted my phone and opened Drivesafely without any problems. I checked the version and it says v2.45 now. So it's v2.45 even if App World shows v2.44 still.
I just checked MyAppWorld and looked at Drivesafely, says 'installed(2.45) 941kb at the top but when I scan all the way down (after the app description) has the following info:
Vendor: iSpeech.org
Version: 2.44
Size: 941kb
App itself says v2.45
Did it ask you to edit permissions when installed? Mine prompted me.
