I don't use BBM, as no one else I know that I care to IM with has a BlackBerry. So I decided to delete it.

I wondered what it would do to the few "BBM connected apps" that I have. Turns out, but much for most of them.

EBay seems to be the exception.

When I try to start up the eBay app, I'm presented with a screen that says:
    Welcome to eBay!

Get started by downloading the latest version of BBM.

    Download. Cancel.
If I "cancel", it closes me back out to the homescreen. Are you kidding me? Really? I got to have an optional messaging client to use the eBay app. That's absurd.

I know I could install BBM back on. It's not like I'm hurting for space. I just thought I'd get rid of some excess app baggage.

Unless someone knows of a work around.

Have you tried re-installing the eBay app?

Maybe since it was once connected to BBM it "looks" for it, and a fresh install with no BBM to look for will solve your issue.

Tried that (thought about it right after I posted).

    No luck.
