I don't see what it could possibly do except for turning the connection off and then back on, which you can do if you go into Connections. Sometimes that does make a difference. Often after I've been tethering, when VZaccess Manager disconnects it leaves the phone appearing "connected" but it's a dead connection. Cycling the connection off and back on solves it.
